First Food

It hardly seems possible that enough time has passed for this guy to be ready for real food.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

Wow, and ready he was.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

There was no hesitation when that spoon got close to his mouth.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

He grabbed the spoon and helped guide it right where it needed to go.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

I, on the other hand, kept a firm grip to keep him from gagging on it.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

Despite the sour faces, Luke's first breakfast went great.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
We thought those faces were entertaining, because they were a definite contrast to the Mr. Happy smiles we are used to seeing.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

There aren't many 'firsts' that we can choose the timing on, but it sure was fun being all together for this one.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
Noah was a proud brother and said, "Ud jub baby Wuke," (Good job baby Luke.) and "Baby Wuke eating siri (cereal)!"
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

 Next up...pears, and then lots of other flavors.  Let the baby food making begin!

Five Months

Luke is five months old!
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
Each month gets better than the one before.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
We just love this guy's smiley face and happy personality.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

And, he sure loves chewing on his 'Sophie Girl,' as Noah calls it.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

Luke finally rocked hard enough to roll himself over.  He's done it a couple of times but seems content to just roll onto his side and grab his toes.

He also slept through the night -- a few times.  But he's pretty much decided for now that acting like a big boy is totally overrated and is back to waking sometime around 4:30 or 5.

There are few things better than starting off the day with a happy, kicking, smiling baby.  I love going in to get my boys in the morning.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
He LOVES sleeping in the corner of his crib.  It doesn't matter where we put him down in there, he wiggles and rocks until he's tucked in a corner.  Silly boy.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

You'd think with all of the chewing and drooling that this guy is teething, but nothing yet.  He can fit all four fingers in his mouth, but usually just goes for two.  If he's awake and not eating, it seems like those hands are always in his mouth.  Luke's also pretty happy that after reaching down and discovering his feet, he's got something else to keep him occupied.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

He tried out the swing for the first time when we visited this really huge and amazing park in Rocklin and took the whole thing very seriously.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

And speaking of being serious, this guy definitely can balance all of those smiles with a straight face.

"Some? Some?"

Sometimes it pays off to be the oldest.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
Like, when your mom is baking and you don't even have to compete with your little brother for a  taste.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
Or, as Noah puts it, "Some? Some?"
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
Yep, there are definitely perks to being the big brother...and having a mommy who shares.

Easter Sunday

Oh, wow it was a day of intense cuteness.  Look at these boys.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
My goodness.  How did we ever get so lucky?  When I got Noah dressed on Sunday morning he pointed to his vest and said, "Kites Mama!"  Well, sort of.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
After going to church in the morning and naps in the afternoon we went over to Kristina and Jason's for Easter dinner.  Noah was thrilled to have another egg hunt.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
Sometimes I wonder if two boys could be loved more by their aunt and uncle.  These two really do so much to help, love and, of course, spoil.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
Noah was excited that Uncle Jason let him drive the remote control truck...even though it scares him sometimes.  He'll  say, "Hurt, hurt," but what he really means is, "That thing scared me."
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
It was sweet, though, that when Nate arrived with Papa Noah stopped playing and wanted Papa to come see.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
And even though it's not a great picture, we had to get one of the boys with their Papa.  With such an uncertain future, capturing memories with Papa is so important now.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
Nana's meals never disappoint.  She filled our tummies and spoiled our boys with fun Easter baskets.  I mean, look how excited Luke is about his dump truck.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
What can I say? I am so blessed.  In just a matter of years we've gone from none, to one, and now two little boys.  They are miracles, and I'm so grateful they're ours.

Easter Saturday

We kept ourselves busy with Easter activities on Saturday.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
While Nate was at work, cousin Brennan came over for a little egg hunt.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
Noah was like a lightening bolt moving from one egg to another.  He couldn't get them in his basket fast enough.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
And then when he figured out there were jelly beans inside he was super happy.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

After naptime we all went over to Nana's to make a mess dying eggs.  I sure do love an invitation to make a mess at someone else's house!
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;
Noah first experience dying eggs was a good one.  Although, he was a little bummed when dipping a Wheat Thin into the dye didn't have such a great outcome.
Nate Boyce: ND Boyce 2013 &emdash;

Nate made Luke his own egg.  It's pretty fitting that you can only see "UK," since that's pretty much become his name.
